هر زمانیکه بازدیدکنندگان به یک مکان توریستی قدم می‏‎گذارند باعث ایجاد یک تأثیر منفی در آن منطقه می‎شوند و این حقیقتی اجتناب ناپذیر است. یک برنامه اکوتوریسمی بسیاری از فعالیت‎های مربوط به استفاده‎های عمومی و بازدیدی را که هم اثر مثبت و هم اثر منفی دارد به کار می‎گیرد و یک طرح مدیریتی اکوتوریسم، درصدد کاهش این اثرات می‏باشد. پس یکی از راهبردهای بنیادی مدیریت اکوتوریسم، کنترل و مدیریت کردن اثرات بازدید کنندگان است. برای دستیابی به موفقیت در طرح مدیریتی باید میزان تأثیر فعالیت‎ها بر محیط زیست طبیعی و پیرامونی کاملاً شناخته شود. کنترل و پایش دقیق این اثرات نیازمند یک طرح کلی مدیریت مکان است. در این طرح، ذینفعان مشتاق و افرادی که آموزش دیده اند‏، نیز مشارکت دارند. با این توضیحات اولین روش توسعه یافته برای نشان دادن اثرات توریسم از موضوع و مفهوم ظرفیت برد، گرفته شده است. مفهوم ساده‎تری از ظرفیت برد، تعداد محدود شده بازدید کننده است که می‏تواند بسیاری مواقع به عنوان راه حلی برای کاهش اثرات در مناطق کوچک بکار گرفته شود. در این تحقیق سعی شده است مباحث مربوط به ظرفیت برد وپایش فعالیت‌های بازدیدی مطرح گردد.
